Valvate gap

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    Disconnect a negative cable from the accumulator. Uncover a head of cylinders, having addressed the Section Cover of a Head of Cylinders in this Chapter.
    Using 17 mm the plug, turn a pulley of a bent shaft (1) clockwise so far the mark "V" (white paint) (2) on a pulley will not be made even to "0" (zero), calibrated on a cover of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism.
    Check whether there are yokes of valves of the cylinder No. 1 out of the corresponding contours of a cam (cam-shaft); if it so, valves (1), (2), (5) and (7) in the drawing are ready to check and adjustment of a gap. Check valvate gaps on valves (1), (2), (5) and (7). If yokes of valves of the cylinder No. 4 are out of the corresponding contours of a cam, check valvate gaps on valves (3), (4), (6) and (8).

When checking a valvate gap insert a kalibromer between a cam-shaft and a working surface of a cam of a yoke of the valve.

    If the valvate gap does not correspond to technical characteristics, adjust it according to technical characteristics, turning the adjusting screw, previously having weakened a lock-nut. After adjustment fasten a lock-nut to the specified rotating moment, at the same time holding the adjusting screw not movably, and then be again convinced that the valvate gap conforms to technical requirements.

When it is cold (temperature of antifreeze makes 15 – 25 °C or 59 – 77 °F)

When hot (temperature of antifreeze makes 60 – 68 °C or 140 – 154 °F)

On an entrance

0.13 – 0.17 mm (0.005 – 0.006 inches)

0.17 – 0.21 mm (0.007 – 0.008 inches)

At the exit

0.23 – 0.27 mm (0.009 – 0.010 inches)

0.28 – 0.32 mm (0.011 – 0.012 inches)


    Special instrument6 (And) — 09917-18211. The rotating inhaling moment: a lock-nut of the adjusting screw of a yoke of the valve (a) — 12 N • m (1.2 kg-m, 9.0 pound on foot).
1 — a kalibromer
    After check and adjustment of valvate gaps on valves (1), (2), (5) and (7), (or (3), (4), (6) and (8)) turn the crankshaft precisely by 360 degrees (one whole revolution) and check most on valves (3), (4), (6) and (8) too (or (1), (2), (5) and (7)).
    Adjust them as it is necessary.
    After check and adjustment of all valves, repeat the procedure of dismantling upside-down for the purpose of installation.
